How Do People Even Find Drug Dealers?
In the quest for illicit substances, many individuals often wonder how people manage to find drug dealers, especially when it comes to purchasing drugs like cocaine online. The interconnectedness of the internet has transformed the way users seek out these substances, leading them to various platforms and communities where such transactions can occur. Understanding the methods and avenues through which people locate these dealers sheds light on a hidden economy that thrives in the shadows of society.
“Fentanyl has been found in cocaine, pain pills like Oxycontin, and downers like Xanax when bought underground.” Increasingly, it’s also been found in other drugs, like ecstasy, ketamine, and even weed. It’s 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine and accounts for the majority of over 36,000 synthetic opioid deaths reported in 2019—and fentanyl deaths are on the rise, increasing by 63 percent between 2019 and 2020. Office of National Drug Control Policy, cocaine use had stabilized across the country, with a few increases reported in San Diego, Bridgeport, Miami, and Boston. Inspired by the work 36 investigating the supplier migration phenomenon between underground marketplaces, we also evaluated the migrant suppliers who, for the first time, began to trade in a new market, m’, after the closure of marketplace m. To this end, we first collected the marketplace’s lifespan using the Gwern archive 37, as shown in Table 1, and then compared the supplier lists in each marketplace to investigate supplier migration. In addition, we observed that 10 and 9 suppliers in Apollon and Empire, respectively, migrated from Agora 3 years after it shut down.
We found that 182 opioid supplier IDs appeared in both the marketplaces Evolution and Agora from January 2014 to July 2015. In particular, we observed that 84 opioid supplier IDs synchronized similar product listings in both marketplaces at the same time. This might be because the suppliers tend to promote their products across various marketplaces and to increase sales. Weiser urged social media companies to adopt strong, uniform practices to prevent and respond to illegal drug sales. He also called for a federal agency to oversee social media platforms and legislation that would give the federal government more access to their data. With the rise of social media apps, their convenience and lack of regulation, platforms including TikTok, Snapchat and WhatsApp, have become a major vehicle for drug sales, the report said.
In the papers reviewed in the EMCDDA’s commissioned study, rates up to 40 % to 50 % were used to correct the initial estimates of the number of users or to suggest alternative scenarios (e.g. Bouchard et al., 2012; Kilmer et al., 2011). The impact of such a correction factor (which only applies to the estimated number of users) has the potential to increase the estimated quantities consumed in Europe annually by about one third (Udrisard et al., 2022). Web-based surveys can also be a quick and inexpensive tool for collecting information from relatively large numbers of people who use drugs. While their results cannot be generalised to the population as a whole, or indeed to all people who use drugs, they can paint a detailed and timely picture of drug consumption and purchasing patterns and are a useful complement to traditional data-collection methods. One such survey is the European Web Survey on Drugs (EWSD), which since 2016 has supported the EMCDDA and national decision-makers in gathering in-depth data on the drug situation in Europe. They’re crowded with hundreds of photos of oxycodone pills, Xanax tablets, MDMA crystals, blocks of cocaine, marijuana buds, and brightly packaged edibles.
Ordering deadly drugs from China is easy
Finding drug dealers, particularly for substances like cocaine, often involves navigating a web of online and offline networks. The internet has facilitated easier access to illegal drugs, with buyers using various methods to connect with sellers. Here are some common ways people find sources for purchasing cocaine online:
- Dark Web Markets: Many users turn to dark web marketplaces where vendors sell illegal drugs anonymously.
- Social Media Platforms: Certain groups on social media might share leads or connect interested buyers with sellers.
- Encrypted Messaging Apps: Apps like Signal or Telegram can be used to communicate securely with potential dealers.
- Forums and Online Communities: Some forums dedicated to drug culture may have threads or information on where to buy cocaine.
- Private Networks: Contacts who are already involved in drug use can provide connections to dealers.
While these methods exist, it is essential to recognize the legal and health risks associated with purchasing illicit drugs.
Two students brazenly buy cocaine off internet and have it delivered to local post office
In today’s digital age, the illicit drug trade has increasingly moved to the online realm, making it more accessible for individuals seeking substances like cocaine. Many people find drug dealers through various channels on the internet, including dark web marketplaces, encrypted messaging apps, and social media platforms. These avenues provide anonymity and convenience, allowing buyers to connect with sellers without the risks associated with street transactions.
For instance, two students recently demonstrated this trend by ordering cocaine online and having it delivered to their local post office. They navigated through hidden websites where illegal drugs are advertised, often utilizing cryptocurrencies to ensure their identity remained shielded. Once they identified a reliable dealer, they placed their order and arranged for pickup at a nearby postal location, bypassing direct interaction that could expose them to law enforcement.
This case highlights how technology facilitates access to illegal substances, creating challenges for authorities trying to combat drug-related crimes. The ease of obtaining drugs online raises concerns about the normalization of such behavior among young adults, as well as the potential dangers associated with unregulated purchases.
Pills in the post: inside the dark web drug market
Finding drug dealers, especially in the context of purchasing substances like cocaine online, often involves navigating a complex web of illicit networks. Many individuals turn to the dark web, where anonymity is prioritized and transactions can be hidden from law enforcement. Users typically rely on forums and communities that discuss various vendors, sharing reviews and experiences. This word-of-mouth aspect is crucial for establishing trust within these risky markets.
Once individuals identify potential dealers through these channels, they may need to use cryptocurrency to complete transactions, as traditional payment methods are easily traceable. The process typically involves browsing through marketplaces that resemble legitimate e-commerce sites, enabling buyers to select products based on price, purity, and seller reputation.
However, the risks associated with this method are substantial. Aside from the legal repercussions, there is also the danger of scams, as not all vendors deliver on their promises. Buyers must exercise extreme caution, utilizing encrypted communication and relying on escrow services to protect their funds. Ultimately, while the dark web provides access to drugs like cocaine, it also presents significant hazards that users must navigate carefully.
Buying Illegal Drugs Online or Through an App
The rise of the internet has transformed many aspects of modern life, including the illicit drug trade. As individuals seek convenience and anonymity, online platforms and apps have emerged as avenues for purchasing illegal substances, including cocaine. This article delves into the various methods people may use to acquire cocaine through digital channels, exploring the risks and consequences associated with these transactions.
This is how easy it is to order deadly opioids over the internet
In recent years, the rise of the internet and mobile applications has made it alarmingly easy for individuals to purchase illegal drugs, including cocaine, with just a few clicks. The anonymity provided by online platforms allows users to browse various vendors and choose their product without ever having to meet in person. However, this convenience comes with significant risks and consequences.
Many websites operate on the dark web, requiring specific software to access them. Users can find numerous listings for cocaine, often accompanied by enticing images and descriptions that downplay the dangers associated with drug use. Transactions are typically conducted using cryptocurrencies, which further obscures the identities of both buyers and sellers, making it challenging for law enforcement to intervene.
Moreover, some mainstream apps and social media platforms have become hotspots for drug dealers who utilize private messaging to coordinate sales. This method allows for seemingly casual conversations that can quickly turn into illicit transactions, often without any face-to-face interaction.
The ease of access does not negate the legal implications of purchasing illegal substances. Those caught buying drugs online may face severe penalties, including hefty fines and imprisonment. Furthermore, the quality and purity of drugs bought online are highly unpredictable, increasing the risk of overdose or exposure to harmful adulterants.
As society grapples with the opioid crisis and rising rates of addiction, it is crucial to understand the dangers associated with buying illegal drugs online. Education and awareness are essential tools in combating this pervasive issue and helping individuals make informed choices about substance use.
How cocaine is retailed in Europe
Buying illegal drugs online or through an app has become a concerning issue in Europe, where the dark web and encrypted messaging services have facilitated the retail of substances like cocaine. Users can access various platforms that offer a seemingly anonymous way to purchase drugs, often with a few simple clicks. The growing trend reflects changing behaviors toward drug acquisition, driven by technology and the perceived anonymity of online transactions.
Cocaine is typically retailed through a network of dealers who operate both on the streets and online. In major European cities, suppliers may use social media, encrypted apps, or clandestine websites to reach potential buyers. Transactions on these platforms often involve digital currencies to further obscure the identities of those involved. Buyers can browse menus of products, read reviews, and communicate directly with sellers for inquiries and negotiations.
The appeal of buying cocaine online lies in convenience and discretion. Customers can avoid the risk of street encounters while also having access to a broader range of products. However, this method carries significant risks, including exposure to scams, variable product quality, and legal consequences. Law enforcement agencies are continually adapting their strategies to combat this illicit trade, employing advanced tracking techniques and cyber surveillance.
Overall, while the online market for cocaine in Europe presents an innovative avenue for distribution, it is fraught with danger and legal implications, making it a precarious choice for individuals seeking these substances.
